This field encompasses not only medicine but also physics, chemistry, biology, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, data science, and artificial intelligence. By crossing the boundaries between disciplines, biomedical engineering fosters highly innovative research with strong potential for continued growth and sustainability.

In advanced regions such as North America and Europe, the importance of biomedical engineering has long been recognized, and dedicated programs are well established. In Korea as well, since the 1980s and 1990s, approximately 35 undergraduate programs and 24 graduate programs have been founded in this field. Among them, the School of Biomedical Engineering at Korea University stands as one of the nation’s leading programs, known for its outstanding students and graduates who excel across diverse fields.

Our school has firmly established itself as a top-tier biomedical engineering program in Korea.
